My favorite quick service snack/light meal continues to be the “Pizza Tots” from Green Eggs and Ham in Islands of Adventure. Today, I bring good news for some. I, also, might be bringing bad news to others. Another menu change happened at this covered tater tots-based food service option. Back in December 2021, the pricing changed slightly with this place. This time, technically two new items were added with one being removed.
Starting with potential bad news, the “Brisket Philly Tots” have disappeared from the menu online. However, as of time of writing, that menu item continues to be sold. However, with the online menu change, I cannot be sure for how long. My first time trying this specific version happened a few weeks ago. I reviewed them with a plan to include then in one of my “Top 3” articles for later this month.
Since National Brisket Day falls in May, this menu item would be suggested. Still, those brisket tots failed to be my favorite ,but for under $10, they provided great value in terms of flavor and portion size. I would still select the pizza or buffalo chicken versions first, however.
On the positive side, the vegan version of pizza tots appears to be a permanent menu item now. This menu offering first appeared for passholder appreciation days last year. The menu item stuck around but never officially appeared on the menu. These vegan pizza tater tots cost $10.49 offering plant-based versions of pepperoni, sausage, and cheese. I was waiting until they got officially on the menu before doing a full review. I have no more excuses.
“Carnitas Tots” sits at top of the online menu board now. A few days before this article was written, someone ordered these tots from Green Eggs and Ham. However, two days later, these could not be found after the online menu change. Universal Orlando struggles with updating menus. It will be interesting to see what happens with this menu long-term. This supposedly new option features roasted pork, jalapenos, tomato salsa, scallions, lime crema and white cheese sauce over tater tots. These cost $10.99.
Universal Orlando chefs have been utilizing roasted pork far more often these days. We have a new pork crepe for example. Also, pork carnitas tacos kicked the Korean version of the Bumblebee Man’s taco Truck menu. Based on my experience with recent pork combinations at Universal Orlando, I expect good things from these.
Universal Orlando continues to press on with new menu items. The company lacks fear about changing things. At some point, I will enjoy and review these new menu items.
Until then, eat like you mean it!
