Energy Bytes at Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World serves as the food and beverage kiosk near Tron Lightcycle / Run. Recently, Energy Bytes added a new treat called Passion Fruit IceOform. We gave it a try. Was it worth our time?

Energy Bytes opened when the long-awaited Tron Lightcycle / Run opened. The original menu features several items that arrived with hype but failed to live up to that hype. As a result, those items were moved to other food and beverage stands. Of course, many of those no longer appear on menus at Walt Disney World.

This week, we noticed a new menu item at Energy Bytes. Of course, we have not visited Magic Kingdom, where Tron Lightcycle / Run resides, often in the last few weeks, so we cannot guarantee how long it has been on the menu. The Passion Fruit IceOform shares a design with an original menu item at Energy Bytes. We wondered before ordering it if this sweet treat would be worth it.

Energy Bytes: Passion Fruit IceOform – $5.79

The Passion Fruit IceOform serves as a recent addition to the Energy Bytes lineup. The rest of the menu includes two slushy drinks, the chocolate donut holes, and a strawberry version of IceOform. We have tried the strawberry version a few times. It makes a decent choice, but we would not prioritize it. We also noticed that the IceOform costs fifty cents more now than when Energy Bytes opened in March.

In contrast, the Passion Fruit IceOform takes that concept differently. The Passion Fruit IceOform consists of ice cream mochi with citrus, shortbread crunch, and purple ube foam. The color of this sweet treat makes a good first impression. We love purple ube sweet treats of any type, so this new dessert received many advantages before we took a bite.

The Passion Fruit IceOform comes with a layer of shortbread crumbs. Those are followed with the ice cream mochi. The purple foam creates a pleasant appearance to cap this new treat off before giving it to guests.

The purple ube foam looks good and has a pleasing texture. However, it lacks enough flavor to be called a proper ube foam. This foam functions and tastes like a basic whipped cream we encounter at Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando Resort.

Ice Cream Mochi

Nevertheless, we loved the ice cream mochi. Our IceOform had just the right amount of sweetness and a good balance of passion fruit flavor.

The shortbread crumbs act as a completer for the Passion Fruit IceOform. The light shortbread flavor cuts just the right amount of sweetness to make this treat work well.

Though we wish we got more from the foam, this treat makes a decent snack for before or after your Tron Lightcycle / Run ride. The portion size fails to be sharable. Still, if you find yourself waiting for others to finish riding the Tron attraction, this could be a good way to fill some time for under six dollars before tax. Today, it costs $6.17 with tax.

Maybe we would race off the grid to try this again. However, this would be a reasonable choice if we needed a snack while in the Tomorrowland area of Magic Kingdom. As always, eat like you mean it!
