The Polite Pig at Disney Springs earned Michelin Guide recognition for its barbecue. We ordered the Prime Brisket from The Polite Pig at Disney Springs. Is it still the best?
Earned recognition as a counter service restaurant from the Michelin Guide says something about your operation. The Polite Pig accomplished this. People like me have declared this counter service operation the best barbecue on Walt Disney World property for some time. In fact, The Polite Pig is considered one of the best counter service options at Walt Disney World overall.
During a recent visit to Disney Springs, we happened to visit The Polite Pig. On this occasion, we ordered the Prime Brisket. This included several pieces of coffee-rubbed brisket, cole slaw, one piece of jalapeno cornbread, and one side. The side choices are:
- Baked Beans
- BBQ Cauliflower
- Brussel Sprouts
- Burnt Ends Chili
- Cole Slaw
- Grilled Street Corn
- Mac and Cheese
- Potato Salad
- Grits
- Roasted Beets
- Side Caesar Salad
- Sweet Potato Mash
- Sweet Potato Tots
- Tomato & Watermelon Salad
As you can see, you have plenty of options. Based on this, some guests order three sides as their main entrée at The Polite Pig for $16. We have done that before.
Prime Brisket at The Polite Pig- $22.00
As with all the menu items at The Polite Pig, the preparation qualifies as excellent. Brisket serves as our preferred style of barbecue. With the brisket, we selected the potato salad. We had never tried the potato salad here before, making this visit a good opportunity.
The brisket looked excellent when the staff brought it to us. For the lack of better words, the slices of beef brisket appeared different than we anticipated. However, that did not take away from its quality.
The barbecue preparation shows that the meat experienced a slow, steady smoking process. This process often gets skipped at counter service barbecue places that serve so many customers.
We found the brisket offered the right amount of flavor for this style of barbecue. Since we love barbecue sauce, we select some from the sauce bar to go with our brisket. Yes, we know that barbecue prepared properly does not need sauce. Still, we love barbecue sauces of all types. We selected a sweeter variety for our brisket.
Guests looking for sauce-covered barbecue will be disappointed with The Polte Pig. Nevertheless, those who appreciate slow-smoked barbecue will embrace the magic of brisket here. Personally, I prefer a more robust flavor with our barbecue brisket. Still, we cannot deny that this barbecue ranks very high overall.
Like all good barbecue places, the sides taste wonderful. Even if the more vinegar-based and less mayonnaise-style sides are not your thing, this place even makes beets taste great.
Service
The service here ranks as fabulous. Many guests assume that The Polite Pig is a Table Service based on the quality of the staff that comes around to check on guests.
In terms of barbecue at Walt Disney World Resort, this still beat the competition. We acknowledge that some other decent options exist on the property. However, this place continues to shine. Maybe that is why the table service restaurant run by this company gets such high marks.
If choosing to dine at Disney Springs, The Polite Pig continues to be the best counter service option there. We will see if that continues with eet by Maneet Chauhan opening soon. As always, eat like you mean it!
