Bill Burr Backs Up Gina Carano–Doesn’t Think Her Star Wars Firing Was Fair

It seems that yet another Star Wars: The Mandalorian actor has spoken out in support of fired Cara Dune actress Gina Carano. So far several others have had nothing but kind things to say about their former co-star including Emily Swallow (The Armorer), Giancarlo Esposito (Moff Gideon,) and Katee Sackhoff (Bo-Katan). Now Bill Burr is also speaking up for the actress.

Burr recently sat down with The Hollywood Reporter for an interview and during the discussion it was brought to his work on “The Mandalorian” and if he was coming back for the third season (which he would not confirm.)

“I just do stuff if it seems like it’s fun, and the people I’m working with are trying to do something great. You go on the set of Mandalorian, they’re trying to make something great all day …”  He pauses and adds “That makes me think of Gina. How cool she was as a person …

The interviewer then asked if he felt her firing was fair:

No. I thought it was funny that the liberals proved her point. They just use outrage because they don’t like your politics. As someone who considers himself liberal, it’s disappointing to see the left become how the right used to be when they went after the Dixie Chicks after they criticized George W. Bush.

There’s not a lot of people like that — most are just trying not to get in trouble — but there’s this small collection of lunatics — either on the right or the left, at any given moment – that cause hysteria. And now there’s so many [media outlets] that want eyeballs, they make money off advertising, that they give attention to these crazy fringe people.

The whole thing with Gina: You can’t chime in when the shit’s happening, because then you cause static for other people on the [show]. That somebody’s opinion — or their political beliefs — makes people try to destroy their ability to make a living, it’s f**king bizarre to me.”

For those that don’t know, Ms, Carano was fired from the show after she angered some (mostly on Twitter) after she politely refused to put pronouns in her bio and talked about her conservative views. Then her final “offense” was an Instagram post about how people were turned against each other in Nazi Germany, which the media spun as conservatives against liberals, when she did not specify that. She was referring to people turning on each other, regardless of political affiliation, and has stated that she was misquoted many times.

In fact The Hollywood Reporter even added that to their article when it is not what she said:

after her posts on social media promoted Donald Trump’s debunked 2020 election fraud claims and seemingly mocked transgender pronouns. Disney apparently was tipped into ousting the actress after she compared the suppression of conservative political views to Nazi Germany.

Also she did not mock pronouns. She politely declined to post them (many other Lucasfilm / Star Wars/ Disney people also do not have pronouns posted in their bios.)

This led to horrific harassment for the actress. Here is a complied list by Twitter user @Dataracer117 of SOME of the comments she received:

Tweets attacking Gina Carano

After weeks of targeted harassment she posted “beep/bop/boop” and that is what led to them saying she was mocking transgender pronouns. Again people are not required to put pronouns in their bios, but these people decided that she HAD to or she was “phobic.”

Meanwhile Whoopi Goldberg made a comment that was constituted as anti-Semitism on “The View” and she only received a two week suspension. Many pointed out the difference in treatment of the different actresses.

The Twitter mobs have also set out to “Cancel” Chris Pratt, Letitia Wright and Rosario Dawson too. It’s getting out of hand. You are not allowed to disagree with certain viewpoints or the “mob mentality” of some set in and that’s a very sad and scary thing.

What do you think? Comment and let us know.
