Beloved Quick Service Dining Option at Universal Studios Florida Closing

Poor Universal Classic Monster’s Café has been through many changes. The interior decorations have been adjusted several times. The menu has gone from more traditional theme park food to a BBQ theme. Over the last several weeks, the Universal Classic Monster’s Café failed to open many days. During the height of the pandemic, Universal Classic Monster’s Café served primarily as a team member break area and storm shelter. During the most recent Halloween Horror Nights season, Monster’s Café only opened in the evenings during the nighttime event. In addition, “Scareactor” dining did not happen in that location last year.

Oddly, Friday the 13th seems a horrible day to find out that this classic horror themed dining option will no longer be with us. On that day, Universal Classic Monster’s Café disappeared from the dining options on the Universal Orlando mobile app. Up to this point, several sources claimed these unexpected closings at Monster’s Café related to staffing issues. However, many of the Universal Orlando Team Members prefer to work there so not sure that reason holds up.

No official announcement form Universal Orlando exists about new theming at this quick service location. In addition, we have no idea of a timetable for a re-theme. Also, we have nothing official on whether the “Bone Chillin” kiosk nearby with the rotating monsters on top will continue to operate. I, personally, will miss this well-themed quick service location. I enjoyed most of the menu changes to BBQ. The “Mummy Platter” offered one of the best vegan options in Universal Studios Florida. I will miss the great air conditioning here. Also, the freestyle machines worked great here. In addition, a quiet bathroom resided inside this café. Hopefully those will come back.

Many rumors are flying around about the next theme for this location. Are they just upgraded the classic monsters theme? Is this place closing for another theme? Should we expect a new and improved version of this style of themed dining to open at Epic Universe in the rumored “Classic Monster’s” area there? Does this have any influence on rumored Halloween Horror Nights house featuring “Classic Monsters” for Halloween Horror Nights 2022? Does the heavily rumored “Minions Villain-Con” attraction replacing Shrek 4-d nearby relate to this change? Since a “Minions Café” exists in Universal Studios Hollywood, would it be possible for this quick service location to create consistent theme as people enter Universal Studios Florida?

Like I said, many rumors abound. We will have to wait and see what happens with this location.
