The Munchlings phenomenon continues to thrive at Walt Disney World. On October 9, 2023, a Munchlings Specialty Treats new release event occurred. We experienced this Disney Springs event.
As Walt Disney World announced, an exciting new addition is coming to the Disney Munchlings Specialty Treats Collection. Guests had the chance to join Chef Amanda Lauder in celebration of this new plush.
Participants of this Disney Springs event received several special opportunities to celebrate the new Munchlings arrived. For example, guests witnessed Chef Amanda Lauder recreate one of her beautiful desserts, inspired by the new Disney Munchlings plush, at the Waterside Stage near the World of Disney.
Guests heard Chef Lauder describe the inspiration for this new Disney Munchlings pastry creation. Chef Lauder feels that pastries are the perfect addition to any situation. For example, she said:
- If you are having a bad day, pastries cheer you up
- If you are having a celebration, pastries make it better
- If you are in a jam, pastries help you through it
- If you are a little hungry, pastries fill that need too.
Guests learned that Chef Lauder designed all the pinata dessert creations at Disney Springs sold at The Ganachery. The new Heimlich-inspired Munchlings available starting today at Disney Springs have a pastry partner in crime. Heimlich, for “A Bug’s Life” loves snacks, as fans of that film know. He loves candy corn, so his new pinata comes filled with candy corn and other sweet treats.
Chef Lauder stated that they use modeling chocolate as much as possible as opposed to fondant to make these designs. Very precise piping work is done on the pinata and other new pastries at Amorette’s Patisserie. She emphasized that Heimlich must look cute. In fact, she stated he needed to be “boop-able.”
Disney Munchlings: A Dream Come Chew
Walt Disney World teased this event with a clue that some special treats would connect to the release of the new Disney Munchlings. They called it a dream come “chew.”
On October 9, 2023, guests could meet Chef Amanda Lauder at the World of Disney store at Disney Springs. Also, guests got the chance to savor two delectable desserts inspired by the new Disney Munchlings plush at Amorette’s Patisserie.
Guests can now purchase a new chocolate pinata or a special pastry inspired by this new collection of Disney Munchings. These are themed to Heimlich, of course.
At other Munchlings Release Day events, we have tried the special treats connected to the event. For example, one year, we enjoyed a Donald Duck creation from Amorette’s Patisserie.
Chef Lauder said that these treats were part of a 14-month process of planning. What do you think of the work of her and her team? As always, eat like you mean it!
