We can officially start celebrating the holidays! However, before Halloween was even over, Disney was already working hard to prepare things for Christmas! Disney Food Blog was in the lobby at the Grand Floridian and saw cast members erecting a massive gingerbread house.
The structure looks to be about 15′ tall. The interior structure appears to be still under construction, but the gingerbread panels were being fitted in place as of yesterday.
DFB says the gingerbread house will be made of over 8,500 baked festive bricks. These delectable building blocks will be held in place with icing.
Cast members were seen with huge kettles, mixing icing into hefty piping bags. Think of all the ants this could attract!
The interior of the confectionary construction will act as a sweet shop once opened to the public. Access to the store is available for all, not just those staying at Disney’s Grand Floridian.
It’s Halloween, so you know what that means? The gingerbread house is going UP in Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa! 😅🎄 pic.twitter.com/CisP2gswPN

Construction will take days to complete, but this lobby smells AMAZING throughout the process!
Samples of the gingerbread are also available while supplies last! 😋 pic.twitter.com/JWma8HkU25

If you hoped the overall design would differ from last year’s, you’d be disappointed. While the overall decor may be different when 2023’s gingerbread house is finished, it has the same layout as 2022’s.
However, that’s not a bad thing. Why reinvent the wheel? The architectural design Disney chose for the seasonal candy shop at the Grand Floridian is a great base to build on.
I wonder how many people attempt to break off a small piece of gingerbread and try to either eat it or sell it on eBay. Considering there are folks out there trying to sell Loungefly bags for thousands of dollars, I would not be surprised.
For those curious about Disney during the holidays, it’s a lot of fun. Expensive… but fun. If money is no object, I’d suggest booking a room at the Grand Floridian and attending Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.
The event gives you access to several rides in the evening with much smaller lines. Several treats are only available to those attending the Christmas Party.
Plenty of tickets are still available for November and December. Click here to start booking.
