Disney is introducing the world to the captain of its $6,000 Star Wars LARPing hotel, and her name is Captain Keevan. She appears to be a Pantoran or a Chiss like Grand Admiral Thrawn … though in live-action she looks more like a Doodlebop.
The image debuted via Entertainment Weekly, and comes hot on the heels of massive fan backlash over the first look at the luxury hotel experience.
Despite the first look being so poorly received that Disney Parks pulled down the video, Imagineering executive Scott Trowbridge is being sent out to reiterate that this isn’t just a hotel.
From EW…
“This is not a hotel,” stresses Imagineering executive Scott Trowbridge, clarifying that the two-night interstellar affair (opening March 3 — at nearly $5,000 a stay — just outside Disney’s Hollywood Studios park) is “part video game, live-action role-play, immersive theater, and luxury experience all rolled into one.”
“We’ll learn a lot more about her and her role in some pretty iconic moments in Star Wars history,” he teases, adding that she runs the ship with “capability and professionalism second to none.” But, just like the experience around her, “there may be more to her than meets the eye.”
Even Entertainment Weekly seems highly skeptical of the price tag, despite being given a first look. They’re not the only ones.
Are you excited to visit Disney’s most immersive (and expensive) experience yet? Well, good luck on getting in. Somehow, it’s reportedly booked for months. But clearly this is for a particular demographic, and once the novelty wears off, space will no doubt be available… for, uh, fake space.
