Disney Still Has The Bluey Episode “Dad Baby” Banned on Disney+

Disney still has one episode of “Bluey” banned on Disney+. This isn’t the first time they have done this. The last time they did this, it was over the “Family Meeting” episode with farting. We covered it, and they eventually aired the episode after it got clearance from S&P. The reversal was likely over push-back from fans. Now, they have removed the “Dad Baby” episode, leaving only 140 episodes out of 141 that are supposed to be available.

Why did they remove “Dad Baby”?

The episode has Bluey’s father, Bandit, pretending to give birth to his sister, Bingo. While it sounds bad when I type it, it really wasn’t.

Basically, it’s Bandit carrying around Bingo in a child carrier, and he makes jokes about being pregnant, which leads to him pretending to be pregnant.

I think Looper summed the situation up well:

Bandit makes pregnancy jokes while discovering how hard it is to lug another small creature around on your midriff; things really heat up when Bingo pops her head out between his legs. They set up a birthing pool in the garden, next-door neighbor Lucky’s dad is summoned for midwifery duties, and Bingo is eventually born — causing her birth parent as much discomfort as possible in the process.

Again, it sounds much worse than it actually is. Allegedly, Disney felt it was too close to “sexual education” territory, so they wouldn’t air it. I find that a bit ironic, given how Disney prides itself on its “modern” sensibilities, but okay.

Here are some clips from this episode:

Many parents like that “Bluey” doesn’t shy away from real-life questions and issues. It does so in a fun, yet informative way that both kids and adults actually enjoy.

So far, Disney hasn’t reversed their decision on this episode like they did with “Family Meeting.” But I can somewhat understand their concerns with the “Dad Baby” episode as opposed to banning an episode about farting. But they could put a warning on it and let parents decide if it’s something they feel is appropriate for their family.
