Animatronics are going to face the occasional glitch here and there, but since Walt Disney World reopened a month and a half ago they keep having incidents with their animatronics and attractions.
From Rise of the Resistance having constant downtime and evacuations, to Splash Mountain having ride vehicles sinking to Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway freezing up. Almost as soon as the parks reopened John from “Carousel of Progress” had a head banging malfunction. Jose from The Gran Fiesta Tour ended up face down. Rumor has it that an animatronic fell over at Pirates of the Caribbean recently and now King Triton, from Under the Sea – Journey of The Little Mermaid, is the latest victim of malfunction.

Look, Walt Disney World is a big place and animatronics are bound to malfunction or break, same for attractions, but it just seems like maybe Disney isn’t keeping up with the maintenance like they should. Even before the shutdown Disney had the incidents with the Monorail and the boat sinking on The Jungle Cruise. Many were questioning if they were spreading themselves too thin with all the new expansions, attractions and refurbishments. If they were spread too thin before the shut-down, I can’t imagine how tight it is now.
Hopefully the cancelled projects free up funds to keep their current attractions going.
