Disneyland is set to reopen on April 30, 2021 and with the reopening Disney has provided a list of which attractions will open with the Disneyland and Disney California Adventure. However, there are still some attractions that won’t be opening at this time. The OC Register has explained why those attractions will remain shuttered.

According to their article entitled “Why 30+ Disneyland and DCA rides, attractions and shows will remain closed when the parks return?” There are five reasons that most of the shuttered attraction will remain closed while many others reopen.

Those five reasons are pandemic related and are:

  1. High-touch areas

These would be play areas like in Mickey’s Toontown, Grizzly Peak and Tom Sawyer Island.

These experiences are likely closed because of that:

  • Chip ‘n Dale Treehouse
  • Donald’s Boat
  • Goofy’s Playhouse
  • Pirate’s Lair on Tom Sawyer Island
  • Frontierland Shootin’ Exposition
  • Redwood Creek Challenge Trail

2. Social distancing issues

These are attractions that would have people in close contact with each other and can’t really allow proper social distancing.

  • Disneyland Monorail
  • Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage
  • Sleeping Beauty Castle Walkthrough
  • Main Street Cinema
  • Davy Crockett’s Explorer Canoes

Meet and Greets would also cause social distancing issues:

These locations will remain closed:

  • Mickey’s House
  • Minnie’s House
  • Pixie Hollow
  • Fantasy Faire Royal Hall

3. Large Crowd Issues

Large Crowds is the reason we aren’t getting parades or nighttime shows for awhile.

  • Disneyland Forever” and/or “Mickey’s Mix Magic” nightly firework shows
  • “Magic Happens” parade
  • “Fantasmic” nighttime spectacular
  • “World of Color” nighttime spectacular

4. Time constraints

Due to California’s COVID-19 guidelines, indoor rides and attractions must be limited to no more than 15 minutes. To make sure this is enforced attractions that are longer than this or ones that allow “casual browsing” will be closed.

  • Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln
  • Star Wars Launch Bay
  • Animation Academy
  • Sorcerers Workshop
  • Blue Sky Cellar
  • Bakery Tour

5. Live-Show Ban

Only outdoor live shows are allowed now. Due to that these are temporarily closed:

  • “Disney Junior Live on Stage”
  • “Frozen Live at the Hyperion”
  • “Mickey and the Magical Map”

Other attractions are simply closed for maintenance or refurbishment.

  • Jungle Cruise
  • Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters
  • Matterhorn Bobsleds
  • Grizzly River Run
  • Storybook Land Canal Boats
  • Red Car Trolley
