Universal Orlando is going to go the way of Disney an work with the state to auto enroll their furloughed employees into the state unemployment system according to their spokesperson Alyson Lundell.
Starting on May 3rd, Universal Orlando will be furloughing part-time workers while remaining workers would receive 80% of their usual pay.
The reason Disney and now Universal are auto-enrolling their people is to put less of a strain onto the system. Those that have been entered into the system still must log in and input the additional information like everyone else.
As of today, the Orlando Sentinel stated that “the state has processed 31% and paid 22% of the 1.8 million claims submitted.” The OS also mentioned that the closures due to the virus have caused more claims in one month than they had for all of 2019.
It’s a mess.
