Next time you are visiting a theme park with escalators you might want to not wear certain types of shoes. One family made the discovery for all of us on the escalator in The Land Pavilion at EPCOT.
Apparently when they arrived at the top of the escalator the boy’s first shoe got stuck and then the second one also got caught. Thankfully he was not injured and Disney offered him a wheelchair to go to the store to get new ones, but his mom said he walked barefoot all the time and he was fine to walk over to the store (honestly he probably thought it was cool that he could. My kids would have thought so.)
“All I know is he was next to me and lost balance almost at the end of the escelstor then he yelled how shoe was stuck. Then his other got stuck. We were able to slide his feet out fast. The escelstor got stuck and stopped moving. He’s ok and has all toes but ya fun day at Epcot”

The woman went on to post other videos answering questions. First she put up a video talking about how he got shoes and said “Disney made it right. My son is OK, he’s not injured so they’re just going to get the escalator fixed so that doesn’t happen to [anyone else.]

Apparently someone tried to tell her that the escalators are marked not to wear crocs on them, but she points out there isn’t a sign.
As others pointed out, Disney sells them so you can wear them at the parks. I would think flip flops might also cause this issue.

Then in true “Pixie Duster” fashion people were harassing her about it. Because how dare you show people this possible hazard and specifically state Disney made it right and her kid was okay.
Thankfully no one was hurt and there is NO REASON to behave like that and harass this woman. It’s a valid concern people should be aware of. It might save someone else’s toes or shoes from the same fate.

She even posted one final video recounting everything and again saying how Disney fixed the issue. I think part of it was because people may have been implying she was a bad mom for letting this happen. Well as a mom, stuff happens in the blink of an eye. She talked about how she was holding his hand and everything. But sure, vilify the mom because you think she’s blaming Disney, when she did nothing of the sort.
Sorry, but it makes me angry that people treated her this way. She was likely sharing it to let people know it can happen and to be aware of it.

Just be aware if you are on the escalators.
