This June, The Propstore will hold a live auction that will contain many iconic props from the MCU, Ghostbusters, Gremlins, Batman ’89, Indiana Jones, and more! These props include everything from stunt weapons to screen-used puppets with the control rigs!
I ran a prop shop for years and have seen several famous items pass through. Of course, it’s always exciting to see something that appeared in a major motion picture show up. But, it’s not just because of the big names associated with the prop; it is also a chance to see a prop master’s craftsmanship up close.
From June 21st to June 24th, The Propstore will offer over “1,800 exciting lots of original props, costumes, comics, comic art, and entertainment memorabilia.” Those looking to bid on these items need to register here to be eligible to attend. Out of the thousand-plus things, here are some of the most notable props:
- Thor’s (Chris Hemsworth) Stunt Mjolnir Hammer – THOR (2011)
- Hand-Drawn Brian Bolland USA Magazine No. 36 “Batman: The Killing Joke” Cover Art
- Obi-Wan Kenobi’s (Ewan McGregor) Lightsaber with Short Blade
- Indiana Jones’ (Harrison Ford) Grail Diary – INDIANA JONES AND THE LAST CRUSADE (1989)
- Hero Animatronic Gizmo Puppet – GREMLINS 2: THE NEW BATCH (1989)
- Ray Stantz’s (Dan Aykroyd) Costume – GHOSTBUSTERS II (1989)
- Edward Scissorhands’ (Johnny Depp) SFX Insert Hand – EDWARD SCISSORHANDS (1990)
- Batman’s (Michael Keaton) Nike-Made Bat Boots – BATMAN (1989)
Over the years, The Propstore has offered up many legendary props at its auctions. I’ve bid on things like Captain America‘s costume, shield, and a motorcycle (Lawmaster) used in Dredd. These things don’t go cheap. Expect to pay tens of thousands of dollars to gain ownership of screen-used props.
Regardless of whether you participate in this auction, the catalog The Propshop makes available during each event is worth picking up, either in physical form or via a PDF. The catalog can be pre-ordered for $50 here.
