Steakhouse 71 – New Restaurant at Disney’s Contemporary Resort

Today, Disney announced Steakhouse 71 would be the new casual themed dining restaurant at Disney’s Contemporary Resort.

Renovations and Refurbishments Ahead of the 50th Anniversary Celebration

With the upcoming 50th Anniversary Celebration coming up on October 1, 2021, Disney has been preparing for this Magical Celebration. Disney’s Contemporary Resort has been undergoing renovations including a popular restaurant named The Wave…of American Flavors. The Wave, as it is affectionately referred to, closed to guests on July 15, and subsequently would not return as we once new it.

While not specifically called out in the announcement, it is all but confirmed that The Wave…of American Flavors will not be returning. Although this may be a sad day for fans of The Wave, I look forward to seeing what comes out of the kitchen here.

Steakhouse 71 Announcement

We’re cooking up new experiences at Disney’s Contemporary Resort for “The World’s Most Magical Celebration!”

Located just off the lobby, Steakhouse 71 will be a new casual themed dining concept that gets its name from the resort’s opening year and will be open in time for the celebration.

Upstairs at California Grill, a new dining experience will also be available later this year, featuring a limited-time menu with items inspired by the restaurant’s history.

While these experiences are not yet available for reservations, we look forward to sharing more information soon.

Finally, what do you think of this announcement? Will you miss The Wave? Are you looking forward to Steakhouse 71? Let us know in the comments below
