Oh boy. According to StarWars.com all games involving ‘Star Wars’ and Lucasfilm properties will now be branded “Lucasfilm Games.”

Lucasfilm’s legacy in gaming stretches back decades. And with Lucasfilm and the galaxy far, far away entering a new and unprecedented phase of creativity, so will the world of Lucasfilm Games — developed in collaboration with the finest studios across the industry.

Wow! “unprecedented phase of creativity” I would think that the era where ‘Star Wars’ was actually invented and created would have set the precedent.

I think the mean “With Lucasfilm, no owned by Disney, and the Lucasfilm Story Group pushing their High Republic initiative, we need to sell this as bigger and better than anything done before, including George Lucas and his creation of the whole darn thing”…but I digress.

“unprecedented” really?

How about LucasArts? They did games for years before?  Lucasfilm Games is just the umbrella name for the work done by other studios licensing it out.

 To mark this new era, Lucasfilm Games has launched social channels on Twitter (@LucasfilmGames) and Facebook (@LucasfilmGames), which will deliver breaking news and more directly to fans. You can watch a special sizzle reel celebrating the history of games from Lucasfilm below; the Lucasfilm Games logo, featured above, will appear in all future Lucasfilm Games titles.

I get why they want to put it all under the one brand name, that just makes sense. But there was no reason to call all their “new” ideas an “unprecedented phase of creativity.” This is why fans have been turning against them and loving Favreau and Filoni’s “The Mandalorian” and are excited about what the duo are going to do moving forward. Those shows are done with respect, reflection and with fans in mind.

You can be creative and still respect the source material. All we keep hearing is how they are going to change “Star Wars” and “The Force.”  Maybe if they didn’t try to get digs in there every chance they can people would be more receptive.

Starkiller Base isn’t a Death Star it’s bigger. The High Republic isn’t the Old Republic, it’s Higher.

This is why they keep failing and flailing.

But yeah, their “unprecedented” greatness will all be under Lucasfilm Games now, with the work done by outside gaming studios, as it’s been for awhile now.
