Star Wars Ahsoka Series May Have Cast Ezra Bridger and Grand Admiral Thrawn

If you have been following along with all the Disney+ spin off series announcements and rumors, then you know that they are apparently going to do a live-action Ahsoka Tano series that would also include the characters of Ezra Bridger and Grand Admiral Thrawn.

According to LRM Online on YouTube, there are casting rumors about who has been hired to play the two characters in live-action.

First up is Grand Admiral Thrawn.

Thrawn first appeared in the Timothy Zahn trilogy that took place after the events of Return of the Jedi. The trilogy was incredibly popular and is still one of the most popular among Star Wars fans.  However, when Disney acquired Lucasfilm they made it clear the books that came before were not canon. So fans originally lost characters like Thrawn, and my favorite, Mara Jade.

Now that Star Wars has been flailing a bit, they brought the character into ‘Star Wars Rebels’ and into new books. There’s talk they may do the same with Jade. ( I can tell you right now if they mess her up there will be backlash.)

Bringing Ezra and Thrawn into a live action Ahsoka show would make a lot of sense after ‘Rebels’ and his disappearance with Ezra Bridger.  The rumored plot of the Ahsoka show would be her searching for Bridger.

Casting Rumors

Now we are at the part where we have some casting rumors. Of course these are simply rumors.

According to LRM Online, Lucasfilm has cast actor Lars Mikkelsen, who voiced Grand Admiral Thrawn in the Rebels series, to play the character in live-action.

I think he could pull off the character and do it well.

For Ezra Bridger there has been a long running rumor that Mena Massoud was being eyed to play him. LRM Online says that he has indeed been cast to play the popular ‘Rebels’ character.

Either casting choice would not be surprising if true, and I don’t think they’re bad choices. What I’m really excited about is that the write up on Disney+ says that it will be written by Dave Filoni and directed by Jon Favreau, so right off the bat I feel better about it and more hopeful that I do for say the Acolyte show.

Here’s what is posted on the Disney page:

After making her long-awaited, live-action debut in The Mandalorian, Ahsoka Tano’s story, written by Dave Filoni, will continue in a limited series, Ahsoka, starring Rosario Dawson and executive produced by Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau.”

There you have it. Those are the most recent casting rumors.  You can hear more about them in LRM Online’s video. So check that out!
