ATTENTION: THE FOLLOWING STORY IS A RUMOR. PLEASE TAKE THIS REPORT WITH A GRAIN OF SALT

English born actor, Tom Holland, became a star practically overnight with his appearance as Peter Parker AKA Spider-Man in the 2016 MCU Film Captain America: Civil War. The actor would continue to play the character in Spider-Man Homecoming, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, Spider-Man: Far From Home and the Upcoming Spider-Man: No Way Home, thanks in part to the Marvel-Sony Deal made after the Andrew Garfield Amazing Spider-Man Series was axed by Sony.

Tom Holland’s contract playing the web-slinging arachnid-themed hero is set to expire after the upcoming Spider-Man: No Way Home film, wish may or may not see the return of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield as their versions of Spider-Man via the Multiverse. But a recent “report” has said that an effort is being made to keep Holland as the titular hero.

According to Giant Freaking Robot a “Trusted and Proven” Source has given them information that Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige is trying to keep Holland on as Spider-Man in the MCU via a new deal. This deal would give him a new three film story arc.

Apparently with the departure of Marvel’s biggest names like Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, Thor and more being phased out it is believed that Phase 5 will revolve around Spider-Man as the main hero.

This “Source” however neglected to mention the fact that Sony has control of the film rights. In fact Sony almost backed out of their deal with Marvel/Disney after the release of Avengers: Endgame, but due to pressure from Marvel fans via Twitter they allowed for an extension which is how we got Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Sony seemingly has been wanting to separate from their deal with Marvel by once again attempting a Spider-Man shared universe with 2018’s Venom acting as the starting point, followed by Morbius and other Spider-Man characters like Prowler, Black Cat and more.

The current conflict of interest between Marvel and Sony seems to be the biggest obstacle of Holland remaining in the Spider-Man role. Sony did offer to sell the character back to Marvel for $10Billion but Disney definitely doesn’t want to spend that kind of money on one property.

Do you think Kevin Feige is planning to keep Tom on as the red and blue web slinger? Or do you think Sony will take back the character and take advantage of the characters recent popularity?
