Judging by some images of the recently announced Spaceship Earth refurbishment, it looks like at least Moana will be added to the attraction. And that likely means even more Disney characters.
Oh, Disney.
Please, please don’t let this be true. This is literally the last thing Disney parks fans want.

Earlier today, Disney announced at D23 a massive refurbishment of the beloved classic Epcot attraction, and with it seems to be an intention of making it “more Disney.”
The re-imagined Sapceship Earth will focus on “storytelling” over progress and communication, and already Disney Twitter is fit to be tied.
I had actually missed the quick glimpse of Moana, until Kambrea pointed her out to me. I honestly thought the image was from the upcoming Journey Into Water experience.
But no… the presence of the ride vehicles in the foreground confirmed what Epcot fans have feared for year — the Disney-fication of yet another part of opening day Epcot.
Change is inevitable, but not always welcome.
There’s no word on when Spaceship Earth will be taken offline to receive its refurbishment, but October 1 of this year seems likely.
Like the sudden closure of Ellen’s Energy Adventure and The Great Movie Ride, that won’t give most people enough time to say goodbye to this version of the attraction.
So I’ll sign off with a memory of what most people consider to be the best version of Spaceship Earth. Remember her well because we’ll never have this again.
