ATTENTION: THE FOLLOWING REPORT IS A RUMOR. PLEASE TAKE THIS STORY WITH A GRAIN OF SALT.
It has been known for a while now that actress Brie Larson has desired a role in the Star Wars Universe. A number of conflicting reports said that she was possibly going to play Mara Jade Skywalker, while another said that she was set to play Jedi Master Avar Kriss in a High Republic series on Disney Plus. But ultimately it was to many people’s assumption that she would play the lead in Leslye Headland’s Star Wars series The Acolyte, produced by Kathleen Kennedy.
But a rumor suggests that not everything is going great behind the scenes.
Coming from YouTuber Mike Zeroh, he says that Brie Larson has quit an animated spin-off project due to two major factors. Mike Zeroh does have a mixed track record in terms of accuracy, so the following story could of course be incorrect, which is why this is definitely just a “Rumor”.
The first major factor according to Mike, is that Brie Larson has been having a falling out with Kathleen Kennedy over the direction of her character. Brie originally was meant to appear in not only The Acolyte, but also an animated spin-off series set around the same time of its live action counterpart. Her character is meant to be a sort of god-like Jedi, which is something the actress would probably want to play. But Kennedy has apparently been messing around with the spin-off project.
Kennedy has seemingly been micromanaging the series by making changes to the character, wanting the animated spin-off to be set before the events in which Brie’s character becomes a god-like being. Also it would seem that her character would no longer be the main star but would have other characters be focused upon as well in a fully diverse cast.
Brie Larson is allegedly unhappy with not only having her powers nerfed, but she apparently only signed on for a show where she would be the main focus. She feels these additions sideline her character and make her less important.
The second major reason why Larson quit is due to Leslye Headland backing out as a writer on the animated show. She seemingly only wants to focus on the live action show and nothing else.
Brie’s soured relationship with Kennedy has allegedly lead the actress to quit the project, thus leading to the project’s cancelation.
According to Mike, Brie will only do one season of The Acolyte as the actress may not want to work at Lucasfilm any longer. Which could mean that The Acolyte show will only be brief one and then the focus would turn to more projects by Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni as it is rumored that Kennedy is mostly working on The Acolyte and Indiana Jones 5.
So what do you think? Do you think these rumors hold any water? Or is it just a bunch of “he said, she said” nonsense? Only time will tell.
