Review Of Cabana Bay Burger At Bayliner Diner

The food courts at the value plus level resort hotels at Universal Orlando are superior to other comparable food courts in Orlando area. The Bayliner Diner at Cabana Bay Beach Resort is not perfect by any means. Still, this food court offers more than just standard theme park food.

During a recent stay, I decided to try out standard theme park food there. I normally encourage guests to get something beyond the normal. However, on this night,  I wanted something simple so I ordered the Cabana Bay Burger.

As my theme park writing reflects (and my expanding waistline, I enjoy burgers). I know that some of my theme park blogging colleagues talk about this burger as one of the best on property, so I wanted to find out for myself.

I would not define this as even close to best on property, but it has its merits. This burger far exceeds what you might expect for a theme park resort burger.

The burger comes with a side of either house-made chips, pasta salad or a fruit cup (according to the online menu) for $12.99 before any discounts. The menu description is a beef patty topped with signature sauce, Swiss cheese, caramelized onions, mushrooms on a toasted bun. You also get lettuce, tomato, pickles, and onions as toppings.

This is what I thought of my burger.

The presentation was excellent especially for a food court. The vegetable seemed and tasted fresh. Even though not on menu, the crinkle fries I got as a side were above average in quantity and quality. The beef patty was far better than standard frozen patty.

This burger was better than almost all in park burgers but still a has way to go before reaching quality of most CityWalk burgers. The onions and mushrooms did not really add anything to the burger but they did not take anything away either.

The star of this burger is the beef patty itself. On a future, visit, I could try the basic burger there to see if it holds up without all the topping.  If I compared it directly with Urban Pantry burger over at Aventura, this burger wins easily.

Now you can add bacon to this burger for a small additional price if desired. The burger I got was messy. I think that is because I enjoyed a larger than normal amount of secret sauce as seen by the photos. I know this is not a high compliment but as theme park resort food court burgers go, this one may be the best.
