This year runDisney hit some setbacks due to the pandemic. They had to cancel the Star Wars Rival Run Weekend and switched their other runs, through 2021’s Rival Run Weekend to Virtual events. Sadly, the only ones that can still participate must have a United States address. I have been lucky enough to sign up for at least one event in all the upcoming virtual ones and I completed the 10K and Half Marathon (Two-Course Challenge) for the Wine and Dine.
Now the boxes for the first virtual event, the Wine & Dine weekend, have started to arrive for those that completed it, and we have a look at the items from the 10K, Half-Marathon, and Two Course Challenge. This year the run was inspired by Disney villains!
Let’s Take a Look!
The items came in a large and fantastic box. Far nicer than packaging I’ve gotten for their virtual events in the past!
Inside the box was a letter:
Congratulations! We hope you had a wickedly good time being part of the 2020 Virtual Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend.
In these uncertain times, we want you to know that we’re behind you, we appreciate you, and we can’t wait to run with you in person once again. So, until your next runDisney event, enjoy the enclosed bling to show off your accomplishment…and your inner Disney Villain. You’ve earned it!
Stay spooky. Stay swift. Stay safe.
Faron D. Kelley, Vice President runDisney”
The box had compartments for the medals and shirts:
(our cat Oswald, aka Ozzie, decided to help me model the merch.)
It really was a great presentation!
Each even had a medal and shirt.
Now in current registrations, you can just choose the medals if you prefer. That’s what I am doing. I don’t need all the shirts.

Wine & Dine Weekend Half Marathon:
This medal has a spinner in it! It’s so nice!
The Two-Course Challenge Shirt and Medal:
The Two-Course Challenge is for those that complete both the 10K and Half-Marathon events!
The Medal is two sided!!! Jack Skellington is on side and Oogie Boogie is on the other:
I can’t stress how nice the medals are. I mean they are usually nice. But I love all the extra work on these!
Here they are:

The other side of the Half and Challenge:
If you have the opportunity to participate in an event do it! Of course the in-person events are much better. I can’t tell you how exciting they are and how supportive the other participants can be. I’ve always had fantastic experiences at the in-person events. But if you would like to give it a try and can’t make the trip to the parks, now would be a great time to sign up.
There are still openings for the ‘Star Wars: Rival Run Weekend’ events. You can choose what you would like to do. It as full availability right now. 5k, 10k, Half-Marathon, Rival Run Challenge, and the Kessel Run Challenge.
If you are wanting to give it a try I recommend it. Just make sure you complete the event and submit your time!
