Hollywood has faced a large number of setbacks on current and upcoming productions over the strikes from both the WGA writers union and the actors SAG-AFTRA union. The writers’ strike ended a short while ago and as of yesterday the SAG-AFTRA strike is seemingly over as well. At least after approval and rattification of the new contract. The studios are ready to get back to work. With that comes some new release dates.
One of the most anticipated Marvel films, “Deadpool 3” is expected to return to filming by Thanksgiving according to Variety. It seems they want to get that film finished as soon as possible.
Marvel has also just updated a few of their upcoming film release dates.
Deadpool 3 (Untitled Deadpool Movie as they call it ) is moving back only a couple of months from May 3, 2024 to the new date of July 26, 2024.
Captain America: Brave New World is moving from the July 26, 2024 date now held by Deadpool 3 to February 14, 2025.
Thunderbolts is moving from December 20, 2024 to July 25, 2025.
Blade, which was supposed to release on Valentine’s Day 2025 will now release on November 7, 2025.
The issue still remains that Disney and Marvel are releasing three Marvel movies in a year again. Lately, many feel they have been releasing far too many films annually and that teamed up with shows on Disney+ is creating “superhero fatigue.”
Even though Disney CEO Bob Iger said that they were planning on going with quality of quantity and would be reducing their output, they apparently plan to keep flooding the market with Marvel content.
Now we have an idea of when to expect new films from Marvel Studios, unless the possible strikes with IATSE next year pushes this all back further.
