Marvel Echo Trailers Gives Look at First Disney+ MA Rated Show

Marvel has just released a trailer for it’s upcoming show “Echo.” The latest Marvel offering will air on the Disney+ and Hulu streaming services on January 10, 2024. All episodes will drop at once on both services simultaneously.

From the trailer, it seems Disney is trying to go Netflix Marvel with these new shows.

They debuted the new character, played by Alaqua Cox, in the “Hawkeye” series a couple of years ago. This series is definitely leaning into the violence fans expected with “Daredevil” on Netflix. Both  Vincent D’ONofrio as Kingpin and Charlie Cox as Daredevil will appear in this show.

The lead character is deaf and communicates with ASL. Alaqua Cox herself is also deaf. The director, Sydney Freeland, actually had her team take ASL lessons so they could communicate with the actress better and let her know how she was doing.

Freeland is quoted as sayingI needed to have some basic language where I could talk to [Cox] and look her in the eye and say ‘that was nice! Again! More emotional.’ Just some basic words for her.

I think that is just a phenomenal thing to do so that everyone can understand and communicate better.

Here’s the trailer:

Many of the comments are discussing how it looks better than they thought it would be.

It’s unclear how dipping into TV-MA is going to work out for Disney, but personally, I think going more Netflix Marvel is probably a smart choice.

People who saw some of it said that it seemed to feel like a bit of “John Wick,” mixed with “Daredevil” and “Breaking Bad.”

I know some are still leery, as there were rumors about reshoots happening after Kevin Feige didn’t like what he saw and called it “unreleasable.” So either that wasn’t true, or the issues were fixed, or the trailer shows the best parts of the show, and the rest is meh.

I guess we will find out in January.

What do you think? Comment and let us know.
