After multiple delays the highly anticipated Black Widow film finally coming up. The MCU Prequel film staring Scarlet Johansson as the titular character as we learn more about the history and secret past of the former Russian Assassin turned Secret Agent for S.H.I.E.L.D. But apparently not all people who worked on the film seem happy.

Marvel Studios Head Kevin Feige is apparently not happy with Disney deciding to release the film simultaneously on Disney Plus and in Theaters as part of the company’s new strategy. Disney CEO, Bob Chapek, has been ramping up the company’s focus on Disney Plus and having a number of films like Pixar’s Soul and Luca release Exclusively on the platform while other films like the Mulan Remake and Raya and the Last Dragon release on their $30 Premium Access Program.

Kevin Feige is apparently mad about the decision for two reasons. 1. That he wasn’t told ahead of time that they made the decision to release in Theaters and Streaming at the same time. 2. That he may be worried how the Streaming release may effect the Theatrical Release as the film may not receive as much revenue as past films in the series, thus putting potential future projects in jeopardy.

This situation is very familiar to when in early 2021 WarnerMedia announced that Every Film planned for a 2021 release would Premier in Theaters and on HBO Max the same day, which caused a lot of backlash from various partners such as Legendary Pictures and long time directors like Christopher Nolan.

Black Widow is set to release this Friday (July 9th) and we will finally have the secret story of the Black Widow told. But will the Decision to release on Disney Plus the same time effect its Theatrical Run? Do you plan to see it in theaters to help support the MCU? Only Time will Tell.
