The next Marvel film coming out is the highly anticipated ‘Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Maddness.’ Of course, as the title suggests, the multiverse is going to play heavily into the film. With it has come all kinds of rumors about casting of characters from other universes, like Tom Cruise as Iron Man.

Another rumor that has been mentioned a lot with this film is the presence of Illuminati and that has seemingly now been confirmed by Empire Magazine.

Cosmic Marvel on Twitter posted this image:

The text next to the photo of Stephen Strange reads:

“Strange stands before the Illuminati”

Who are the Illuminati?

For those of us that haven’t followed the comics for years, the Illuminati is a secret organization made up of heroes, namely Professor X, Iron Man, Mister Fantastic, Namor the Submariner, Black Bolt and Doctor Strange. They were originally assembled by Tony Stark after the Kree Skrull War came to Earth.

Since we don’t have all these characters in the MCU yet this could be the debut on some of them, including a new Iron Man. Originally Black Panther was also offered a spot in the group, but he declined. Not sure if that will come into play here as Namor is going to be in the second Black Panther film.

Fans are going to be very excited to get Reed Richards back as many have wanted an MCU ‘Fantastic Four” for awhile now. I also want to take this moment to point out that my husband called this back before Disney bought Fox and was told he was crazy because they would never do a “Fantastic Four” film. He deserves the vindication.

That leaves Black Bolt which had appeared in the short-lived ABC show “Inhumans.”

Seems that all the members have appeared or will soon appear in Disney / Marvel properties.

Now the speculation is likely confirmed. The Illuminati is coming to ‘Doctor Strange and the Mulitiverse of Maddness’ coming to theaters on May 6, 2022.
