How much is Mickey Mouse worth to you? Do you love Disney enough to spend over $1,000? If you’ve been to the parks recently, that’s probably just a fraction of what you paid. However, what about when it comes to a single piece of Disney merchandise?
Takara Tomy … Yes, the same company that created Transformers… has created a beautifully but jaw-droppingly expensive Future Mickey Mouse figure with a $1,005 price tag.
Future Mickey was designed by Hajime Sorayama, whose robot illustrations will be familiar to anyone who used to read Heavy Metal. Like Sorayama’s artwork, the pricey rodent is made of metal.
Standing 13″ tall and weighing almost 6 lbs., Future Mickey is constructed from zinc alloy, iron, and polyoxyethylene. The figure also sports 15 points of articulation.
Future Mickey may be pre-ordered from Sideshow Collectibles. The unique collectible is expected to ship between December 2023 and February 2024.
Orders are limited to six per customer, so you’ll have to restrain yourself from spending $6k on an army of robo-mice. I know it’s tempting!
“This Mickey Mouse figure was created with great attention to detail based on the conceptual sketch that envisioned this design. In order to express the shiny feel that is a main characteristic of Sorayama’s work, the material used to create this figure is a heavy zinc die-cast product.
In order to reproduce the lively expression of Mickey Mouse, the eyelids, ears, mouth, fingers, ankles, etc., provide more than 15 points of articulation. It is now possible to enjoy detailed emotional expressions through the movable eyelids. You can recreate the rich facial expressions of Mickey Mouse, the world’s entertainer, just the way you want!”
