Lately Disney has been under fire for them seemingly not moving forward on the their announced retheming of Splash Mountain to Princess and the Frog. Just a couple of weeks ago the VP of Magic Kingdom, Melissa Valiquette, did a podcast interview where she said they were working on it but it takes time.
Immediately after Disney released information about how they hired artist  Sharika Mahdi who is “a visual artist, art educator, and alumna of the renowned YAYA (Young Aspirations Young Artists) Arts Center located in New Orleans” to create a series of four original paintings to inspire the Imagineers.
Disney Parks Blog has one of the images as being “released today.”
Maybe they are just now releasing them to the public, because the way Valiquette made it sound, Imagineers were already working on all kinds of ideas.
We do have a look at some concept art from Disney Imagineering as well today. It’s just one piece though.
It seems Disney is trying to do some hard core PR to try and stop all the questions that the media and social media have raised about why the attraction hasn’t received a retheme yet.
You can learn more about the research and various things they are doing on the Disney Parks Blog.
