With so many things returning to “normal” at Walt Disney World, it’s easy to forget that there are still some things that haven’t reopened yet. Two in particular come to mind Typhoon Lagoon and Fantasmic.

Now Typhoon Lagoon was set to have a refurbishment, and that appears to still be underway, but there has not been any announcements about the return of Fantasmic to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Of course it’s likely that Disney is still trying to minimize the close contact with shows and events, but they’re brining back the fireworks on July 1st and indoor shows are opening and they are seating every row.  So why aren’t we seeing parades and Fantasmic return yet?

Meanwhile the stage is just sitting there empty.  The water ways are drained off, but they seem to be filling back up with rain water and it’s looking a bit rough.  At least is seems to be with a recent image posted by @Bioreconstruct on Twitter.

It doesn’t seem that Fantasmic won’t be show ready anytime soon.  But I would think Disney would want to have it back up by the 50th Anniversary celebration of the Walt Disney World Resort beginning on October 1.

We do know that various work has been done during the shutdown. Banners have been refreshed and track and concrete work has been reportedly done as well. There are permits for work to be done at the theater that are good until 2022. So it’s possible they really don’t plan on reopening in about three months.

Currently no plans for reopening have been announced.
