Disney Cancels Muppets and Other Entertainment in New Round of Budget Cuts

The end of the fiscal year is approaching and Disney is already making some entertainment cuts.

Some of the “cuts” I think are just the end of limited run events like Mickey’s Surprise Celebration, but some are sad like Liberty’s Square “Muppet Presents Great Moments in American History.”

Here’s a list of what’s leaving:

Muppets Present Great Moments in American History

This show debuted in 2016 and has been pretty popular.  It is scheduled to end on October 5th and was confirmed by a cast member.

This is a group of actors that roam around Fantasyland. The troupe includes Sir Sterling, Bridget, his neice, Tobias the squire and Lady Llewellyn. I’m sad about this. Lady Llewellyn and Tobias visited my daughter when she was getting her Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique make-over and she loved them.

The parade will go from three shows a day to two shows per day

This wasn’t open very long!  Located in Disney’s Hollywood Studios by Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy.  The dance party is leaving, but the Racing Academy will still be there.

This is part of the Incredibles area at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This another one that I thought was already a limited time event, but it’s being listed as one of the cuts.

Those are the ones we know about currently.  Like I said some are a surprise and some I think might have intentionally been limited runs. I am really sad about the Muppets one though.

What do you think? Comment and let us know!

Disney has been a big part of my life for years--from family trips to WDW to growing up on Disney classics, TV, and movies. Prior to Pirates and Princesses I successfully ran social media and websites since 2010. I've also been a public speaker and presenter since 2007. I'm the co-host for the YouTube channel Clownfish TV as well as the podcast/ Youtube Pirates and Princesses (PNP) channel. Former contributor, online personality and acting social media manager at The Kingdom Insider (which we built from the ground up and ran from 1997-2019 --Thom didn't quit FYI) Pirates and Princesses was started by my husband and I several years ago. We loved Disney and wanted to honestly cover all aspects from pop-culture to the parks from a consumer focused stance. Living OUR happily ever after getting to do what we love with our two kids! Creating fun content and building new things. Certified art teacher, and mom. Opinions are all mine.
