Disney+ Announces New BTS Documentary Series ‘Monuments: Beyond The Star’

Yesterday, Disney announced that they would be partnering up with Korean (K-pop) group BTS for an eight-episode documentary covering the group’s first ten years.

BTS (Bangtan Boys) features seven performers: Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook. Not only did they succeed in South Korea, they have also succeeded globally to become a worldwide sensation.

The docuseries will hit Disney+ on December 20 and will offer a “glimpse into the countless obstacles and challenges the band encountered in reaching their global career-defining milestones, as well as the members’ daily lives and inner thoughts.

According to the Disney+ press release the show will “also feature appearances from HYBE Chairman Bang Si-Hyuk, and BEYOND THE STORY : 10-YEAR RECORD OF BTS author Kang Myeongseok, BTS Monuments: Beyond The Star looks back on the band’s key moments over the years, showing how the band came to be, what it was like preparing for their debut, what it was like winning best new artist at the 2013 Melon music awards, highlighting their struggles during the “Danger” period, discussing their first concerts, their debut at the American Music Awards and the Billboard Music Awards, what it was like becoming stars in America, speaking at the UN, performing at the Rose Bowl Stadium, the excitement of performing at London’s Wembley Stadium and more.

Episode 1 – The Beginning
Episode 2 – Adolescence
Episode 3 – Pursuit of Happiness
Episode 4 – Disconnected
Episode 5 – Welcome!
Episode 6 – Begin and Again
Episode 7 – Still Purple
Episode 8 – Promise For Tomorrow

Episodes 1 and 2 will debut on December 20, with two new episodes each Wednesday after.

Currently, the group is on a hiatus as the members complete their South Korean required military service, but they are said to be returning in 2025.
