Amusement Today has just given out their Golden Ticket Awards.

This award is given annually to honor the “Best of the Best” in the industry and is determined by an international poll that Amusement Today conducts.

How are the winners determined?

Amusement Today says that they open it up to park voters and industry people:

The survey asked experienced amusement park voters around the country and world to rate the “bests” in 22 categories. This year, to keep the awards current and relevant, voters not only included industry fans, but also – in some categories – industry suppliers, manufacturers and journalists.  New categories were added and others were tweaked to create a fresh approach to the awards.

Disney and Universal both won some of the awards!

The Best Halloween Event of 2018 went to Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando Resort! I can see why, they do an amazing job and this year was no exception!

Best Dark Ride went to Shanghai Disney for Pirates of the Caribbean: Battle for the Sunken Treasure. Again, I can see why. It’s a very advanced and amazing attraction. I love the classic Pirates, but this one is pretty awesome.

This is a big one! Best New Attraction Installment of 2019 went to Universal Orlando Resort for the popular Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure.

Disneyland won for Best New Family Attraction of 2019, with Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run.

There were also three categories that were taken off this year and Universal Orlando’s Revenge of the Mummy was made into a Golden Ticket Award Legend for it’s number of wins in the, now retired category, of Best Indoor Roller Coaster.

I know this part isn’t Disney/Universal news, but I was excited because two parks we visit in PA (Kennywood and Knoebels) were both awarded as well.

Kennywood’s new Steel Curtain got Best New Coaster of 2019! Knoebels got Best Food of 2019, Best Wooden Coaster for the Phoenix, and it’s Grand Carousel was also made a Golden Ticket Award Legend, for the now retired, Best Carousel category!  I just wanted to point that out because I love those parks, especially Knoebels!

Congratulations to all the winners! You can read the full list if you visit the awards page here.
