Universal Orlando found a skill in terms of temporary themed tribute store. We know the Mardi Gras Tribute Store opens for passholders on February 3rd. However, on January 28th, a Classic Monsters Tribute Store opened. Since the Revenge of the Mummy attraction faces an extensive refurbishment, the “Sahara Traders” store experienced a redesign. This redesign pays homage to Universal’s movie nostalgia of classic horror films. The exact title of this walk-through attractions announced by Universal Orlando is “A Tribute to the Creatures of the Night.”

Universal Orlando posted on their social media that “Time to shop until you drop.

The press release gave the following information:

Universal Orlando Resort resurrects some of Universal Pictures’ most iconic monsters for an all-new, limited-time Tribute Store – Universal Monsters: A Tribute to the Creatures of the Night. From crumbling tombs to collapsing laboratories, the new merchandise location will transport guests to highly themed environments inspired by Dracula, Wolfman, Mummy, Phantom of the Opera, Frankenstein’s Monster and The Bride of Frankenstein. Guests can check out a variety of Universal Monsters-dedicated merchandise, pose with life-sized photo opps, and even “monster-ize” themselves as caricature artists “stitch” them together with the likeness of their favorite creature.

This all-new, limited-time Tribute Store is located in the Sahara Traders store at Universal Studios Florida.” Once again, based on initial photos, Universal displays amazing ability to create a quality themed environment quickly. Only a short time ago, Sahara Traders continued to be open even with Revenge of Mummy closed. Since majority of traffic to Sahara Traders involves guests exiting the mummy attraction, this change creates a solid reason for all guests to visit this temporary store.

Here is a video walk through by Orlando Informer:

At this point, we lack information on how long this new store will be open. Logically, we can conclude that this store will convert back to a mummy attraction exiting gift shop in late summer.

In this Tribute Store, veteran Universal Orlando guests will spot props used previously for The Mummy and Frankenstein theming. While shopping, guests will get a good view of Dracula saying hello from the stairs.

Since this is a Universal temporary store, we should expect to encounter many “Easter Eggs.” These homage tributes will match previous monster themed happenings at Universal Orlando. Also, the music within the store matches he theme perfectly.

This limited time retail store, as Universal Orlando calls it, should entertain many Halloween Horror Nights fans until announcement season starts. When you combine the memorabilia in the lobby area of Horror Make-Up Show, some statues in the “Five and Dime” store, and the Universal Studios’ Classic Monster’s Café, Universal Studios Florida will provide plenty of entertainment for classic monster fans. As usual, Universal proves they can be creative with limited space to provides a quality guest experience.
