Many people are excited for Nintendo to come to Universal Theme Parks, a deal that I’m sure Disney is kicking themselves in the pants for not reaching out to Nintendo First, and with many pictures and leaks of the upcoming Universal Studios Japan Opening some are wondering how the one in Orlando will be.

But sadly when the Mushroom Kingdom hits Orlando and Mario and Donkey Kong movie in, Woody Woodpecker and SpongeBob might be moving out.

Opening in the summer of 1990, Woody Woodpecker’s KidZone is a smaller area of Universal Orlando focused on attractions targeted towards smaller children, such as Woody Woodpecker’s Nuthouse Coaster, the Animal Actors Show, the E.T. Adventure Ride, two play areas themed after Curious George and An American Tale, Meet and Greet with various child- friendly characters like Barney the Dinosaur, and a SpongeBob themed store which is all that remains of the old Partnership with Nickelodeon that ended in 2005.

Though smaller than most areas of the park it is enjoyed by children ages 2 and up and still draws small families with small children. However with the New Nintendo Land being constructed nearby some executives may deem that section no longer vital and thus may close off the area and make it part of the rumored Pokemon themed expansion to the Nintendo Themed Land.

I myself an looking forward to seeing Nintendo at Universal, but seriously? Getting rid of the really charming E.T. Ride?

I think Mr. Spielberg would like to have a word with you. But again this is all currently speculation as nothing has been fully announced.
