Lots of surprise Disney news is pouring in from D23 in Anaheim this weekend. Could one of the surprise announcements be a Zootopia e-ticket attraction in Disney’s Animal Kingdom?

There have been rumblings about a Zootopia Land being added to Disney’s Animal Kingdom for quite some time now. The most talked about potential location is where Rafiki’s Planet Watch currently is located (they’ve even got the train to take you there!)

And Disney did eventually announce a Zootopia Land… for Shanghai Disneyland.

But given that Disney tends to use the overseas parks for R&D, and tends to clone attractions all over the world (like the upcoming TRON coaster in Magic Kingdom), it’s not inconceivable that they could clone this land in Walt Disney World.

Why build one, when you can build two for the same R&D cost?

Now WDW News Today is reigniting the rumors of that Zootopia attraction. Well, maybe. They seem to believe that another e-ticket attraction could be announced for Disney’s Animal Kingdom in 2024, and I’d wager that a clone of whatever attraction is coming to Zootopia in Shanghai may also be coming stateside.

And with the image below of what appears to be the Shanghai version of Zootopia making a brief onscreen appearance during Disney’s D23 Parks Pavilion Tour video, it’s possible that Disney may announce Zootopia coming to Walt Disney World before the weekend is over.

With pretty much all of the Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary projects announced and underway, Disney will need something to pull people away from Super Nintendo World when it almost certainly opens in Universal’s Epic Universe park in the near future.
