RUMOR: Pandora To Replace Disneyland Paris’ Galaxy’s Edge Expansion?

ATTENTION: THE FOLLOWING REPORT IS A RUMOR. PLEASE TAKE THE FOLLOWING STORY WITH A GRAIN OF SALT.

In 2018 Disneyland Paris announced plans for multiple upcoming expansions for the park. The first being “Avengers Campus” as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, followed by “Arendelle” from the Frozen franchise and lastly a version of “Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge”.

“Avengers Campus” opened the other day with the “Arendelle” section still in active development. But the third and final land seems to have been forgotten. According to French fan site Disneyphile, the Paris variation of the “Galaxy’s Edge” concept may have been canceled.

A member from Disneyphile was able to transcribe a question in an interview with Disneyland Paris President Natacha Rafalski on French television. The interviewer asked:

The third thematic area mentioned in 2018 concerned the Star Wars universe, but it is no longer mentioned today. Is it still planned?

Rafalski then answered:

We are still working on the third theme. We will make announcements about this when we are ready.

This indicates that the planned Galaxy’s Edge theme for the land is most likely canceled. The reason? The most likely being the mixed reception to both of the versions at Disneyland in California and Walt Disney World in Florida. Not being themed after the original trilogy left some with a bad taste in their mouthes.

Another possibly being budget with the land costing about $1 billion to develop. A prince tag in today’s comely is much too high, even for a company as big as Disney.

Since this revelation some rumors about potential replacement themes include James Cameron’s Avatar as the “Pandora” section of Animal Kingdom in Florida is seen as one of the most popular lands in all the Disney Parks. Perhaps with the upcoming Avatar sequels releasing now may be the prefect time to utilize that IP at the international parks.
