Good morning and Happy Sunday! Welcome back to the tenth week of Sunday Showcase. Each week we take a look at one of Walt Disney World’s resorts. This week we will be taking a look at Disney’s Old Key West Resort. If you haven’t checked out last’s week’s article, you can do so here.

Sunday Showcase: Disney’s Old Key West Resort

“Experience the romance of the Florida Keys at this tranquil community of Conch Flats—a sprawling island hamlet with shimmering waterways, swaying palm trees and manicured golf-course fairways. Delight in sun-soaked pools, casual dining and such amenities as fully equipped kitchens or kitchenettes.”

Brief History

Disney’s Old Key West Resort was opened on December 20, 1991. This resort was the first Disney Vacation Club and is formerly knows as the Disney Vacation Club Resort, until it was changed to Disney’s Old Key West Resort in 1996. From its current namesake, this resort features a Key West theme throughout the resort. One of the “largest” benefits of this resort has some of the biggest rooms for Disney Vacation Club.

Rooms and Facilities

Disney’s Old Key West Resort is currently configured with over 750 Guest rooms and 541 villas, ranging from a new Deluxe Studios all the way up to a 3 Bedroom Villa.

Deluxe Studios can accommodate up to four Guests, plus one child under age 3 in a crib, and have two queen size beds and private porch or balcony.

One Bedroom Villas can accommodate up to five Guests, plus one child under age 3 in a crib, and offer a fully equipped kitchen, king-size bed in master bedroom, queen-size sleeper sofa and twin sleeper chair in living room, washer & dryer and private porch or balcony.

Two Bedroom Villas can accommodate up to nine Guests, plus one child under age 3 in a crib, and offer a fully equipped kitchen, king-size bed in master bedroom,
2 queen-size beds in second bedroom, queen-size sleeper sofa and twin sleeper chair in living room, washer & dryer and private porch or balcony.

Three Bedroom Villas can accommodate up to twelve Guests, plus one child under age 3 in a crib, and offer a fully equipped kitchen, king-size bed in master bedroom, 2 queen-size beds in second bedroom, two double beds in third bedroom, queen-size sleeper sofa and twin sleeper chair in living room, washer & dryer and private balcony.

    Belly up to this bar for munchies like pizza, hot dogs, sandwiches and salads – plus kid’s meals too!

  • Sandcastle Pool — Glide down a 125-foot-long waterslide through a giant sandcastle, and sunbathe on a sand beach.
  • 3 Leisure Pools — All-ages leisure pools – each with a whirlpool spa – are located in the Old Turtle Pond, South Point and Miller’s Road sections.

Parking

Standard overnight self-parking is available to registered Guests for a fee that will be applied to their hotel folio upon check-out. All parking fees include applicable tax.

  • Parking for Disney Deluxe Villa Resorts is $25 per night.
  • Valet parking is also available for $33 per night.

Complimentary standard self-parking is available while you enjoy select dining, shopping, entertainment, and recreation experiences at this Resort.

In conclusion, Disney’s Old Key West Resort has been providing Disney Vacation Club Members and Resort guests with a beautiful and relaxing resort getaway for almost 30 years. As the original Disney Vacation Club Resort, it is definitely one you will want to check out, especially if you like the extra room to spread out.
