David Prowse, the man who brought Darth Vader to life in the original Star Wars trilogy, died earlier this week at age 85. And the cause of death was Covid-19, according to family.

The actor struggled with Alheizmer’s and cancer prior to falling ill from Covid. In other words, he was very high risk.

From Deadline

In an interview with UK’s The Sun, Prowse daughter Rachel confirmed that her father, who suffered from Alzheimer’s, had been hospitalized for the last two weeks with Covid.

Confirming the cause of death, Rachel Prowse said, “It’s horrible that Covid restrictions meant we did not get to see him and say goodbye. But when we went to collect his stuff from the hospital the nurse said what a cool guy he was. He was such a larger-than-life character. He would have loved to see himself trending on Twitter.”

Because of restrictions on gathering, the family will not be able to give him the “big send off” they would’ve liked to.

Prowse was the “man in the suit” for Lord Vader, while James Earl Jones provided his iconic voice.
