Some Classic Movies Invite You to Universal’s Great Movie Escape at Universal Orlando

A long time ago in Orlando, the branding of the word “Escape” did not go so well for Universal. Just as we do not talk about Bruno, we do not talk about Universal Studios Escape. However, the long-rumored escape rooms being built in Universal Orlando CityWalk were announced recently. They will be in the upper area of CityWalk. Unsurprisingly, the theme of these escape rooms matches classic Universal theme park-controlled properties. In typical NBCUniversal synergy, the summer Tribute Store in Universal Studios Florida hinted at the theme of one of these escape rooms (if not both)

On Monday June 13th, Universal Orlando Resort officially announced the debut soon of Universal’s Great Movie Escape, a new escape room entertainment option. That name alone may cause some therapy for fans of the competing theme park formerly known as MGM Studios. Perhaps those fans will simply run away with Mickey and Minnie in the former spot of their “Great Movie” ride when they hear this news.

According to Universal Orlando, these escape rooms will feature two next-level options. Universal Orlando boasts that they will be packed with the innovative storytelling and theming the destination is known for. The two properties that one can escape from are inspired by Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment’s blockbuster films Jurassic World and Back to the Future.

Universal Orlando says these escape rooms were designed by the same creative masterminds responsible for the wildly immersive haunts of Halloween Horror Nights. “Universal’s Great Movie Escape” will bring two distinct and extraordinary escape adventures in CityWalk. Universal Orlando says that through interactive state-of-the-art missions, captivating storytelling and intricately detailed sets, guests will be swept into the dinosaur adventures of Jurassic World or the time-traveling chaos of Back to the Future as they solve their way through a multi-sensory experience like no other.

At this point, we have no official opening date. Universal Orlando wants everyone to know that tickets will go on sale months before official opening date (as they say in their press release). This leads me to believe the escape rooms will not open until at least September but nothing official at this point.

Universal Orlando CityWalk offers some excellent merchandise locations and outstanding dining. This entertainment offering will upgrade the options at CityWalk. No pricing or hours of operation have been announced yet. We will strive to keep you updated here at piratesandprincesses.net
