RUMOR: Avengers 6 To Be A Soft Reset For The MCU?

ATTENTION: THE FOLLOWING REPORT IS A RUMOR. PLEASE TAKE THE FOLLOWING REPORT WITH A GRAIN OF SALT.

It’s no secret that the Marvel Cinematic Universe hasn’t been the box office juggernaut that it used to be as of late. Multiple films in both Phase 4 and Phase 5 have been brining in less than expected profits with films like Thor: Love & Thunder, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania brining in less than their predecessors.

The MCU has also been a mess behind the scenes with the VFX department unionizing due to being overworked, multiple Disney+ shows brining in low viewership and former Marvel Studios President Victoria Alonso being let go. With this much happening at the studio many fans worry about the future of Phase 5, Phase 6, and how the franchise will continue after that. Well, we may have an idea.

A brand new book MCU: The Reign of Marvel Studios, an unauthorized behind-the-scenes look written by Joanna Robinson, Dave Gonzales and Gavin Edwards released on October 10th. The 528-page book featues over 100 interviews covering 2008’s Iron Man to today may have given us some insight into the plans for the MCU after Phase 6.

According to the writers of the book (as well as the book itself) Avengers: Secret Wars (currently set for a May 7th, 2027 release) will apparently lead into a reset for the entire MCU via the multiverse. Past characters are set to return for the crossover, with some characters remaining while others will be replaced with new versions in Phase 7, concluding the ‘Multiverse Saga.’

The new MCU will not only include the X-Men and Fantastic Four but also apparently the SONY Spider-Man universe, uniting everything under one umbrella.

Despite what the book says, none of these announcements have been confirmed by Disney or Marvel themselves, so it will have to be “taken with a grain of salt” at this point in time.

It honestly makes sense for some kind of reboot since the series is already 15 years old, and by the time Secret Wars releases, it will be almost 20 years. New interpretations and new opportunities for both talent and viewers. But again, we will ahem to wait and see how it all plays out.

What do you think? Should Marvel hit the reset button?
