Worker Dies After Falling From the Orlando StarFlyer

I have some sad news to report today. A 21 year old employee fell to his death while doing a safety check on the 450-foot attraction.

According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Cp. Antwan Daniels the victim fell early this morning at about 7:40 AM.

A witness called 911 to report the fall and said that a man had fallen “50-60 feet.”

“#Fall: 8265 International Drive, approx. 7:40 a.m., OCFRD responded to 911 call that reported an adult male had fallen, caller stated 50-60 ft. OCFRD responded to scene with rescue climbers. Climbers encountered one patient that had fallen to an elevated surface below.

Crews were able to gain access to patient and an additional worker (who was uninjured). Patient removed and placed on stretcher, transported as trauma code to #ORMC. Rescue climber assisted one uninjured worker to safety. Scene tot

Rescue climbers responded to the scene and removed the patient and uninjured worker.

The injured man was taken to the Orlando Regional Medical Center, but he was pronounced dead.

We send our deepest sympathies to the man’s family and friends.
