Today, January 18th, is National Winnie the Pooh Day!

This date is the birthday to author A. A. Milne, born in 1882.  He would later go on to create the beloved Winnie the Pooh stories that included his son, Christopher Robin.

Pooh himself was based on a black bear named Winnie, who lived at the London Zoo during World War I. The real Christopher Robin liked the visit Winnie and named his own teddy after her and a swan named Pooh.
