Top 3 Things You Should Be Eating at Universal Orlando This Week (March 20th, 2022)

The busiest week of “Spring Breaks” finally ends with this installment of “Top 3.” Mardi Gras festivities continue for another month though. Thus, we continue to have excellent Mardi Gras food to explore. At only three of these a week, we will only be covering the best or most unique.

Yucca Fries

This week, we start with a small item located in the food truck in the “New Orleans” area of Mardi Gras. This item comes from the same food truck as the arepas. You can get yucca fries here. The yucca fries cost $3.99 before discounts. These yucca fries offer reasonable flavor. However, the chimichurri sauce accompanying these fries makes all the difference. Some guests voiced issues with the small portion size. Still, the sauce stars with this menu item.

Our next two suggestions for this week enter the realm of sweet treats. The Mardi Gras Brownie makes our list this week. Like some other treats, this one sometimes goes on sale with a “buy one then get one free” promotion. You may also find this treat at Toothsome Chocolate Emporium and Savory Feast Kitchen. Otherwise, the brownie costs $10. That may seem high. However, this brownie comes in different varieties. The photo shows the “mask” version. These brownies consist of several varieties of chocolate. The brownie rates as very rich. Like some other Mardi Gras treats, the portion size may not slow you down, but the sugar could.

Petit Cake

Finally for this week, we reached Mardi Gras Petit Cake. The “Petit Cake” has grown into a traditional seasonal dessert at Universal Orlando. Some Universal Orlando veterans look forward to this treat during each seasonal event. They speak of a consistent overall quality. The moistness of the cake adds to the enjoyment. Though this year’s version consists of more than the average amount of food dye, the flavor remains solid.  Guest reports consistently state that this year’s version meets expectations and previous standards.

Once again, thanks for coming along on this culinary “Top 3” journey. I look forward to seeing you again next week to find out the three things you should be eating at Universal Orlando.

As always, eat like you mean it!
