It seems that the upcoming ‘Ahsoka’ show on Disney+ started filming this month in Los Angeles according to a clip from Production Weekly on Reddit.

From the clip we see who’s staring in the show and who’s running it. No real surprises there:

The write-up says:

“A Star Wars spinoff set within the timeline of ‘The Mandalorian.’ Ahsoka Tano is a Togruta female, who was the Padawan learner to Anakin Skywalker and a hero of the Clone Wars. Alongside Anakin, she grew from headstrong student into a mature leader. But her destiny laid along a different path than the Jedi. Ahsoka is on the hunt for the evil Grand Admiral Thrawn in the hope it will help her locate the missing Ezra Bridger, the young Jedi that disappeared with Thrawn many years ago.”

We also learned that Season 3 of ‘The Mandalorian’ will wrap up on March 23, 2022.

Like we already knew the show it tying back to ‘Rebels’ with the Ezra Bridger / Grand Admiral Thrawn connection.

Others in the reddit thread are pointing out that since the two shows are overlapping for a few weeks of filming there could be crossover characters between the show, namely Sabine Wren as she will be played by Natasha Liu Bordizzo. I thought that was a good observation, given that the show is in the same timeline and we saw Ahsoka in ‘The Mandalorian’ Season 2.  We could see more characters cross between the shows during the overlapping filming.

With both shows in filming and ‘The Mandalorian’ Season 3 wrapping up in a couple of months people are speculating that we might get these shows sooner than originally thought, but still quite a ways off.
