We are finally getting more news on the next Pirates of the Caribbean film in the franchise.
It looks like we will be getting a new Pirates of the Caribbean film, but it’s going to be a reboot and not a sequel. The brand new story is going to be written by Ted Elliott who co-wrote the first four films with Terry Rossio. For this film Craig Mazin will be sharing the writing duties.
Mazin is currently known for his award winning Chernobyl miniseries on HBO. So far it has won seven “Creative Arts Emmys” and three “Prime time Emmy’s”
This should mean that the feel of the films will remain familiar, but, the media keeps saying it’s unlikely we will be getting Johnny Depp back as Jack Sparrow. I say it depends on how much China’s opinion matters.
The previous rumor was that we were going to get a new Pirates of the Caribbean with Redd the Pirate. If you are unfamiliar Redd was the auctioned red-head that they made a pirate in the new version of the attraction.
Later they added an actress to the area in Disneyland playing Redd.
As of now we really don’t know much other than who’s writing it and it is moving forward as there hasn’t even been a director announced yet.
