Previously Disney announced that they would be offering ‘Premier Access’ for their upcoming ‘Mulan’ release on September 4, 2020. They indicated that Disney+ subscribers would be able to use other platforms/ devices to purchase the film through Disney+ along with the Disney+ website. Now we know those platforms / devices are currently Roku, Apple, and Google.
Like when Disney+ launched Amazon Fire Stick is not yet included in devices that can complete in-app purchases for the $29.99 ‘Premier Access’ for use on Disney+.
If you use any of the three platforms to access your Disney+ you should be good to purchase.
Rich Greefield from LightShed posted about it on Twitter earlier today:
The implication is Disney+ subscribers will be able to use in-app purchase on Apple, Google and Roku devices rather than having to buy on https://t.co/vOdelLPNHw and then return to the device of choice

Breaking: Disney+ adds Apple, Google and Roku as distribution partners for @DisneysMulan premium access release on 9/4 — we highlighted this was coming in our post yesterday below $DIS
— Interestingly, no word yet on Amazon
— Disney is clearly sharing economics with partners https://t.co/JiYWVot27A pic.twitter.com/xPmNzMm1tq— Rich Greenfield, LightShed (@RichLightShed) August 21, 2020
The idea is that by using Roku, Apple and Google to complete an in-app purchase users don’t have to go back and forth between their device and the Disney+ website.
It give users some more options if they are interested in purchasing the film.
