Interestingly enough, with Disney Cruise Line’s latest round of cancellations it’s going to take the Disney Wonder to being shut down for a year and the it’s almost to a year for the Disney Fantasy as well.

So far this year Disney has had to cancel 267 sailings!

Take a look at the numbers from the Disney Cruise Line Blog:

“Today, with this phase of cancellations of 23 cruises spanning 123 nights, Disney Cruise Line eclipsed the 1 year mark for lost nights on the Disney Wonder and close to doing the same with the Fantasy. To date, Disney has been forced to cancel 267 sailings losing total 1401 nights across the fleet. The Disney Dream will lose 89 sailings losing 323-nights, Disney Fantasy 60 sailings losing 357-nights, Disney Magic 59 sailings losing 338-nights, and the Disney Wonder 59 sailings losing 283-nights due to the Coronavirus pandemic.”

We still don’t know if we are going to lose sailing dates past February.

The CDC already made a new danger level warning last month – Level 4. That’s where they put cruise line travel.

• Level 4: Very high level of COVID-19
• Level 3: High level of COVID-19
• Level 2: Moderate level of COVID-19
• Level 1: Low level of COVID-19

We know there are conditional steps towards reopening that require three steps and certifications. That could take months to reach.

Who knows how long Disney Cruise Line will be down, but here at PNP we’ve been saying it would be down at least through 2020 and it has been. Now we are seeing it down through Disney’s first quarter and into it’s second quarter.

I have to wonder if Disney will be able to accomodate all the people with the cancellation 125% Cruise Line Credit, that will need to sail before May 31, 2022? How many of their sailings will be full of people who already paid and won’t be generating much new income for the cruise line?

These are the questions I am watching moving forward.
