Disney is testing the Skyliner gondolas after this weekend’s accident. The gondolas were seen moving again on Tuesday, according to WESH Channel 2.
Disney issued a statement apologizing for the incident, although some park guests are still understandably shaken with questions as to how this could have happened so soon after opening.
Some theme park safety experts have stated that Disney should have had better safety measures in place, and even the Reedy Creek Fire Department said that they voiced their concerns to Disney about how understaffed and unprepared they were to handle an incident with this system.
“We’ve gotten lucky! And we need to stop pushing our luck,” Sean Pierce, who is with Reedy Creek Fire and Rescue’s union said to WESH 2.
“If this had been between noon and 4 p.m. and you had 100 cars with anywhere from four to 10 people on each car and you have to extricate those people off of those vehicles, it’s going to take a long time and 32 people aren’t going to get it done,” Pierce said.
There is currently no word on when the Disney Skyliner will begin transporting guests again.
