We finally have a reopening date for Universal Studios Hollywood. They have announced that they will reopen on April 16th, following the ‘Taste of Universal’ limited-time event. This is also ahead of Disneyland’s April 30th reopening date.

California residents can buy tickets beginning on April 8th.

Only CA residents, and limits of 3 households and 10 people are being put in place for ticket purchases. Of course there will be capacity limits enforced.

We’re rolling out the red carpet to resume operations and welcome guests back to the theme park beginning on Friday, April 16. Tickets can be purchased online beginning on Thursday, April 8. At this time, theme park visits are limited to California residents and party size is limited to a maximum of three households and ten people.

Experience your favorite attractions such as the Studio Tour along with the all-new “The Secret Life of Pets: Off the Leash” and “Jurassic World – The Ride”’s spectacularly realistic new dinosaur, Indominus rex.

Health and Safety procedures will be in place and enforced:

While most rides will be operational, some rides, attractions and shows will reopen at a later date as the theme park complies with government restrictions. Universal Studios Hollywood continues to work in partnership with health and government officials to implement new health and safety procedures that include physical distancing, required face coverings, and significant limits on in-park capacity.

Pass Members will be eligible for “Bonus Days”  April 15th-May 16th

Unlike Disneyland, Universal kept their Passholder program.

We will also celebrate Pass Members—who will be among the first to visit—with a series of complimentary Bonus Days on select days from Thursday, April 15 (a special Pass Member Preview day!) through Sunday, May 16; these Bonus Days can be reserved online starting on Monday, April 5. Pass Members will be able to resume regular use of their passes starting on Monday, May 17.”

It looks like Universal Hollywood is trying to open a couple of weeks ahead of Disneyland for the general public. They did this with their food event in CA, opening ahead of Disneyland. They also did this in Orlando by opening up Volcano Bay ahead of Blizzard Beach.

If you would have questions about procedures you can visit the FAQ page.
