Oh how the turn tables. In an unsurprising twist, many of the people who have been rallying behind the Captain Marvel actress are now actively trying to cancel her. The term “Captain Marvel” has been trending, but not for the reasons Disney/Marvel would want.
When the Captain Marvel films came out there was a lot of drama on social media surrounding the film, mostly centered on the main actress Brie Larson. But this isn’t about all of that. Now the people rabidly supporting her are turning on her over NFTs.
For those that don’t know NFT or Non-fungible token. Many places, like Twitter and even Disney are trying to jump on the NFT bandwagon. Hollywood is rushing to embrace these digital art pieces and Brie Larson happened to be one of them.
It did not go over well.
While a lot of people offered congratulations and much kinder criticism it is Twitter and they literally can’t even.
Here’s her original post:

This set off some of her vocal supporters:
Damnit Brie, this sucks. Why’d you have to hop on board this harmful trend too? This is not the “support artists” angle that’s actually any good. It’s harmful for the environment and many NFTs are stolen artwork. This is so disappointing as a fan of yours. Unfollowing. pic.twitter.com/NTaIDSmyc7

You are being manipulated to pitch a ponzi scheme. This is very, very bad. Please do some research before you contribute to poor people becoming destitute. This is actively harming people. Its bad.

Same i liked her but from now on not following her anymore and not supporting her projects anymore. It‘s really not hard to not be a fool and look into nfts and not be a sheep.

I’ll just say this:
I hope your decision was worth it
Because you are going to have a LOT of people hate you for this decision
And not just the people that despise you
The people who defended you, like myself, are gonna turn on you for this
I hope it was worth it ✌️— Bills (#StopAsianHate #BLM) (@BigBills75) February 6, 2022

Disney is hiring someone to push more into this space so they better watch out for the Twitter army that they’ve embraced in the past.
